CLUB CAPTAIN’S CHARITY RAISES £4546.00 for MND

Each year Plymstock Bowling Club’s Club Captain has the honour of choosing a charity close to their heart, on behalf of the club, for their year in office.

Dave Hopper was Club Captain for the season 2022-2023 and, due to a family bereavement from this awful illness, chose Motor Neurone Disease as his charity.

With club members carrying out challenges and the clubs shanty group  The Grumpies donating their gratuities from guest singing venues, Dave raised a massive total of £4546.00 [making a total of £7912.00 for MND, during his two terms as Club Captain].

Roger Box, representing MND Association in Plymouth, was delighted to receive this second cheque of £4364.00 [+£182.00 collected on the night], from Dave Hopper on behalf of the club, at a “Special” evening held at Plymstock Bowling Club on 13th January.

Dave Hopper thanks ALL club members for their support.

This years Club Captain is Sue Ellis, who has chosen The Mustard Tree, at Derriford Hospital, as her special charity.

Having been runners up in The County Major Fours, our Ladies went to The 2023 National Finals as “Qualifiers”

Although they lost to The Isle of Wight in the first round, both they and their support crew [husbands] really enjoyed the experience.
